Fellow Nestoricans,
my apologies for the hiatus here on the blog. Even diligent property searchers need to take the occasional break, and last week was that time for me. But now I’m back so you can expect a flurry of posts in the coming days. First up, let me start by saying what a great event Inman Connect in New York was. As might be expected, discussion was dominated by the current state of the economy. Opinions were divided on how quickly society would revert to barter and cannibalism, and Brad summed it up best with his open statement, “Here’s the good news: 2008 is over”. Nevertheless, against the backdrop of bad news there were quite a few folks working on “the next big thing” and there was near unanimous agreement that the current down turn in the property market will force the last sceptics to acknowledge the power of new technologies, be it general internet marketing or more nascent media like twitter (BTW we’re @nestoria – follow us). Most enjoyable for me was the one day Property Portal Watch session hosted by Simon Baker where it was very interesting to learn about the shared challenges of property portals around the world. The individual panels and sessions of the conference were all of a very high standard, and it was good to see that Europe was well represented. I had the pleasure of being part of a power packed panel discussing “Down and Dirty Web Analytics”. Here’s a photo of me in action:
