Greeting and best New Year’s wishes Nestorcunians,
We start the new year by looking back at the old. Ever since midnight on Tuesday as the rest of were reveling and snogging, we’ve been hard at work, diligently scouring our databases to calculate the most popular areas for property searching in 2007. One thing to note, property searching has a very, very long tail, so even though we were able to see some winners, they don’t dominate. Nevertheless, the trend for 2007 is clear: people want to live near the coast. OK, enough prefacing, here you have the list of where we saw the most activity.- As was perhaps to be expected, our nation’s capital remained the dominant location for finding a new home, perhaps due to the continual influx of new people. Whether looking for a flat to rent in London or a London house to buy, the city continues to be the destination of choice.
- A surprising number two, Dorset attracted many searchers, especially cities like Poole, Weymouth, and Bournemouth.
- Also on the south coast, Devon was a popular third, especially Exeter.
- The fourth most popular property search was searches for homes for sale in Birmingham.
- The Midlands also secured the fifth spot with nearby Derby.
- The draw of southern sun was too powerful, luring property searchers to Plymouth.
- Coastal living of a different sort was the appeal in Blackpool.
- The lone representative of Yorkshire was Harrowgate.
- Bristol and surrounding cities like Bath drew considerable interest.
- Offering the best of proximity to London, seaside living, and of course a famous brush with history, Hastings closes out our top 10.
