Nestoria API – version 1.01

More and more developers have been expressing interest in the Nestoria API recently. We’ve had some great feedback, and one or two bugs have been uncovered. As such, today we unveil version 1.01 of the API with a few minor changes since the original launch.

All changes are documented in the change log on the technical details page of the API description.

We also wanted to highlight some of the interesting applications of the API, to inspire those of you we see experimenting.

As one example have a glance at Diji Adu’s site UK Local Area, a great reference site with data about local areas.

Big thanks to all the developers using the API and everyone who submitted bug reports or feedback. Keep it coming.

And of course for those of you a bit less technically adventurous feel free to have a play with our standard webmaster tools that allow you to easily add Nestoria listings to your site (or even allow you to have your own co-branded version of Nestoria).

    Hi Ed

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I was just doing a bit of experimenting with the tech. I would certainly fill out a feedback form, if I was going to use the API.

You may be interested to know that Trulia have just launched an API:

Perhaps they are taking the lead from nestoria? :)

    Hi Gareth,

great point. Yes, right now we cap requests at 50 listings per query. I concede the docs don't do a good job of explaining this (actually, they don't do any sort of job of explaining this). I'll add a note and it will go out in the next push.

We can consider raising the limit if there's a compelling reason. We think 50 should be more than enough for most applications. But then again, who are we to rain on your tech fantasies. Get in touch with me privately via the feedback form, tell us what you're up to, and we can probably come to some sort of agreement.

    thanks again for the feedback.

    cheers,
    Ed

    Nice work!

Maybe I was doing something wrong, but I am not sure that number_of_results is working. I seemed to get a maximum of 50 results when more were available.

Is this a bug or part of the design to save bandwidth?

    Thanks
    Gareth
